Homework finishes this week for Christmas. This will resume on the week beginning 6th January.

Every year our SVDP class hampers for Saint Vincent de Paul have been a huge success and the support for the local community was greatly appreciated.

It would be greatly appreciated if all children in LSC2 and ASC2 could donate one food item to help us make a class hamper. These hampers will be collected on the 11th December.

Thank you!

Congratulations to the pupils of ASC2 and LSC2 who performed in the Banbridge Speech Festival on the 19th of November. The group won the Donard Shield for their exceptional performance of the 'Autumn Dance', scoring 90/100. Aodhan McCann came first in the solo performances with his performance of Cake-O-Saurous by Celia Warren and he won the anniversary cup. Congratulations to all the pupils for their performances and thank you to our parents who were a wonderful audience.

Banbridge Speech Festival will take place on Tuesday 19th November at 1.30pm sharp in our school assembly hall. You are very welcome to attend.

Swimming lessons will finish on Monday the 18th of November and resume again after Christmas.

ASC 2 had a great time at the Halloween disco although it was all too much for Aodhan at the end.

A very spooky day in LSC2...

We have been working hard in our numeracy topic on multiplication and division.

Congratulations to Shane  and Aaron who are ASC 2 and LSC 2 Student Council Representatives this school year.smiley

Student council

Friday the 27th September is a day we'll never forget. Our past pupils Conor Turbitt and Daniel Magee brought the Sam Maguire to St. Anthony's. There was so much excitement and we sang our hearts out. Congratulations and thank you.

Today some pupils in ASC 2 and LSC 2 were introduced to the concept of unitising. Progressing from unitising the children were introduced to different coins and identified their values.

On Monday the 23rd of September we went for a woodland walk in Oxford Island. We saw oak, maple, horse chestnut and alder trees. We collected pine cones, acorns and conkers. We saw lots of blackberries too. After our walk we had a snack and played in the park overlooking Lough Neagh.

Woodland walk

As part of our World Around Us topic LSC and ASC 2 will be visiting Oxford Island on Monday 23rd Sept to explore the woodland area. Your child must wear their PE kit, a jacket and appropriate footwear. There is no need for a packed lunch as we will be home in time for dinner.

REMINDER

Our parent information session takes place on Wednesday 25th September at 3:10pm in Mrs Fleming's room. We will discuss routines and key procedures and give a brief overview of the curriculum. We look forward to seeing you.

ASC/LSC 2 teachers

On Tuesday ASC 2 and LSC 2 had their first horse riding lesson of the new term. They were very excited to meet all the horses and staff again. It was Eoghan's first time and he thoroughly enjoyed it.smiley

Horse riding will commence on Tuesday 17th September. The following children from LSC 2 and ASC 2 who will be attending first term are Ross, Liam, Eve, Logan, Nico and Eoghan. Aodhan and Shane from ASC 2 will be attending.

Your child must wear their PE kit, a coat and bring a pair of gloves. The cost of the lesson is £1 each week which can paid on the school money app. If your child has long hair please do not put it in a high ponytail as they will be unable to wear a helmet.

Horse Riding

On the 10th September we watched a short video clip on Explorify called Falling Into Place. This video sparked a conversation about autumnal changes. The children observed toadstools growing and learnt that toadstools aren't plants or animals but belong to their own kingdom called fungi. Our class were really interested and want to learn more about fungi.
