While Your Child is Off School

While your child is not in school, this page can provide important online links.

Check out the My-School apps and websites! Keep up to date with newsdesk, relax with some games. Access Google Classroom through the apps section. Login with your c2k username and password and use the internet safely.


Your child may have access to Google classroom, if you are unsure how to access this here is a helpsheet.


News Desk

Newsdesk is a very useful tool for schools to develop children’s fluency in reading, comprehension and writing skills. The Newsdesk Hour will be in operation from Monday 23 March where children can listen to interesting articles, watch video content and write about what they have read of learned. Children can also take a picture and upload it onto School Reporter section of the main Newsdesk site. The activities and topics are updated daily



Accelerated Reader Login

Accelerated Reader is a computer-based program that schools use to monitor reading practice and progress. It helps teachers guide kids to books that are on kids' individual reading levels.



This can be accessed both online and through apps. Nessy programs are based in Dyslexia research and designed to help students of all abilities learn to read, write, spell and type, especially those who learn differently


 Teach Your Monster

This is free to register online and at times the app is also available for free. Great app beginning at initial sounds and supporting learning to read.

Here at Literacy Shed we aim to provide teachers with high quality films and animations that can be used in the primary classroom to enhance the teaching of reading and writing.
