Hansel and Gretel

Using the playscript of the traditional story of Hansel and Gretel we are:

Creating puppets of the characters

Designing a set for a puppet theatre

Using JIT Animate to animate scenes from the tale

Measuring

We can use rulers to measure in centimetres

We can use metre sticks to measure in metres

The Sound Collector

We read the poem, "The Sound Collector" and created our own versions.

We are making shaker instruments to add sounds to our performances.

Shoebox houses

To connect our activity based learning experiences to our World Around Us we have been working in small groups to create a room to allow us to build our own shoebox house. The children have thorough enjoyed exploring and designing their rooms and building with a range of scrap materials.

Materials Request for Parents & Carers

Dear Parents & Carers,
As part of our exciting Activity Based Learning sessions this winter, we’re inviting children to bring in a few materials to support their creative work. Not every child needs to bring everything —  a few spare items from home would be greatly appreciated!

🎆 1. Fireworks Art Scene

To help us create vibrant firework displays, we’re looking for:

• Rice or pasta (uncooked)
• Kitchen roll tubes
• Ends of bun cases (cupcake liners)
• Ends of Ribbons
• Ends of String or wool

🪵 5. Build a Nest

To help us build cosy nests, please send in:

• Twigs
• Small sticks

🎃 Halloween Activity Day Recap 🎃
We had a spook-tacular time celebrating Halloween! The day was filled with creativity and problem-solving as pupils took part in a Halloween Maths Trail, tackling fun and challenging puzzles with a seasonal twist. We also unleashed our artistic side by creating spooky artwork, showcasing imagination and Halloween spirit. It was a fantastic way to combine learning with festive fun—well done to everyone who took part!
