Activity Based Learning

Shoebox houses

To connect our activity based learning experiences to our World Around Us we have been working in small groups to create a room to allow us to build our own shoebox house. The children have thorough enjoyed exploring and designing their rooms and building with a range of scrap materials.

Activity Based Learning – Winter 2025

Materials Request for Parents & Carers

Dear Parents & Carers,
As part of our exciting Activity Based Learning sessions this winter, we’re inviting children to bring in a few materials to support their creative work. Not every child needs to bring everything —  a few spare items from home would be greatly appreciated!

🎆 1. Fireworks Art Scene

To help us create vibrant firework displays, we’re looking for:

  • Rice or pasta (uncooked)
  • Kitchen roll tubes
  • Ends of bun cases (cupcake liners)
  • Ends of Ribbons
  • Ends of String or wool

🪵 5. Build a Nest

To help us build cosy nests, please send in:

  • Twigs
  • Small sticks

Thank you so much for your support and contributions. These materials will help make our learning hands-on, fun, and memorable!

Warm regards,

Primary 4 Teachers

The day was filled with creativity and problem-solving as pupils took part in a Halloween Maths Trail, tackling fun and challenging puzzles with a seasonal twist. We also unleashed our artistic side by creating spooky artwork, showcasing imagination and Halloween spirit. It was a fantastic way to combine learning with festive fun—well done to everyone who took part!
