Schools of Sanctuary

Schools of Sanctuary

We are thrilled to be involved with the Schools of Sanctuary programme this year.

Our goal is to create an environment where every child feels secure and welcomed, no matter their beliefs, background, or appearance.

We envision a world that appreciates and honors cultural diversity.

The Schools of Sanctuary initiative is dedicated to turning this vision into reality.

As a part of this programme, we kindly ask our pupils to fill out a brief survey.

Schools Of Sanctuary Ambassadors

We are excited to introduce our Schools of Sanctuary Ambassadors at Saint Anthony's!

With 115 pupils from all over the world we understand that starting at a new school can be a bit scary, especially if you speak a different language. That's why we have chosen a friendly ambassador from each community to help.

When a new student joins us, their ambassador will welcome them, show them around the school - including their classroom, the assembly hall and the canteen and be a friendly face to help them make new friends.

We wish our ambassadors the very best of luck with their new role!

Our Garden of Sanctuary

Our Garden of Sanctuary

As part of our Schools of Sanctuary Project, we are proud to have developed a very special space within our school - the Garden of Sanctuary.

This peaceful garden is a place where children can come to relax, smell the lavender, water the flowers, and simply enjoy a moment of calm and quiet in their day. It is a space for reflection, connection with nature, and reminder that St. Anthony's is a welcoming and caring community for all.

We look forward to seeing our pupils continue to enjoy and care for this special sanctuary in the years ahead.

We Did it!! St. Anthony's has achieved the Schools of Sanctuary Status!

St. Anthony's received the exciting news that we have been officially awarded the Prestigious School of Sanctuary status - a national recognition of our commitment to creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment for all of our pupils.

We are especially proud to be one of the first primary schools in the Mid-Ulster area to receive this honour.

This award affirms a belief that has always been at the heart of our ethos; schools should be places where children are happy, safe, respected and truly heard.

Being named a School of Sanctuary is a reflection of our whole-school approach to inclusion. From classroom teaching and pastoral care to valuing pupil voice, we strive to foster a positive and supportive environment for every child and these values are woven into the fabric of our school culture.

As a proud School of Sanctuary, we look forward to building on this foundation. During the next academic year, we will take the next step in our journey by applying for the Inclusive School Quality Mark, continuing our dedication to ensuring that every child feels welcomed, valued and included.

Supporting Our School Community

Thank you Eurospar!

We are proud to share that St. Anthony's has recently partnered with Eurospar on the Portadown Road to launch a new initiative through our Schools of Sanctuary Award funding - a Hardship Fund to support families within our school community. As part of this effort, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Euro-Spar for their generous donation of £100 in vouchers, which will go directly towards helping families in need.

Thank you to our Schools of Sanctuary Ambassadors

As we come to the end of another fantastic school year, we want to say a big thank you to our Schools of Sanctuary Ambassadors for all of their dedication and hard work throughout the year. Your efforts have made a real difference in our school community and we are incredibly proud of everything you have contributed.

To show our appreciation, Mr. Mallon presented each student with a small token of thanks.
